Description

The book is an archaeological study of an unpublished votive deposit (IV-III centuries BC) found at the beginning of twentieth century in the northwest of Basilicata in Italy. It includes an overview of the volcanic Mount Vulture area and presents evidence of natural phenomena and sanctuaries.

REVIEWS
‘Anyone working on Greek or Roman archaeology, particularly sanctuary archaeology, will be interested in this report.’ Dr Jessica Hughes, Open University

‘The merit of the publication lies in the work of reassembling a votive stipe of ancient Lucania whose original context had been lost and whose materials were partly dispersed, trying to recompose the type of cult and ritual practice by defining at the same time the interaction between human action and landscape and the influence of the geomorphology n the modes of settlement of the sacred areas.’ Dr Maria Lucia Ferruzza, Museo archeologico regionale Antonino Salinas
