Written by Gordon D. Thomas
€50.40 – €64.80
Description
This book documents the work and findings of the Lemba Experimental Village project in Cyprus. The aims of this project are fourfold: 1. To identify and characterize Chalcolithic period building materials as uncovered through excavation and to determine the type of technology used to manipulate those materials for building purposes. 2. To classify and characterize all Chalcolithic building elements from Cyprus and from them to identify an architectural form and establish a set of building types within that form. 3. To establish the Chalcolithic building form within the overall framework of Near Eastern building traditions and to demonstrate links or themes that can indicate a shared cultural tradition. 4. To identify and characterize building deposits and building materials and to investigate the impact of buildings on archaeological site formation. These ideas and hypotheses developed from them were tested and validated through the process of excavation, experimental archaeology and ethnoarchaeology.
