The Corinthian Aryballos, a perfume vessel, is the subject of this book and the author examines the place of the vessel within the cultural system of ties between East and West. Through an exhaustive artistic analysis of the vessel and all its characteristics, the author attempts to prove that the Aryballos can serve as a measure of the period between the 8th and 6th centuries BC. Corinth during this period was a dominant centre of ceramic production, more so than other important centres such asCrete orCyprus.
