€117.60 – €152.40
Description
This book documents the evidence for and provides a richly illustrated and comprehensive catalogue of latrines and toilet facilities in Pompeii, including downpipes indicating the presence of upstairs facilities, offering an inventory of over 200 examples of toilet structures and again as many downpipes. In addition to providing this meticulous catalogue, the author also considers the structure, placement and development of the sanitation facilities in the city, together with drains, sewers and the decoration of the latrines themselves, examining changes through time in technology and in cultural attitudes to draw conclusions about concepts of privacy, gender issues and local attitudes to rubbish disposal, pollution and health.
