Hidden Landscapes of Mediterranean Europe

This collection of papers presents a wide range of case studies and methodological reflections on the problem of Mediterranean hidden landscapes, with important consequences not just for the study of the archaeological record, but also for its management. Though the majority of the papers focus on Italy, common underlying themes connect these case studies from distant parts of countries bordering the northern Mediterranean, using very different disciplinary approaches, and operating at widely different spatial scales. Awareness of these underlying similarities helps to define and diffuse a large(r) set of tools with which to study, describe and manage the diversity of Mediterranean landscapes. The volume is accordingly divided into four parts: Methods and methodology, Mountains and uplands, Sedimentary basins, and Distribution Patterns.
