Description

This volume gathers papers on Egyptological topics originally delivered at the 6th Annual Conference of the EAA, and focuses on the long relationship between Egypt and Europe. The topics covered include recent preliminary results from and information on Russian and Greek archaeological missions in Egypt; the history of European Egyptology and studies of Egyptian collections held in European museums; political, economic and cultural contacts between Europe and Egypt in the Dynastic, Helleno-Roman and Early Christian periods; and anthropological approaches to links between the populations of Egypt and Europe in ancient times. It is hoped that the volume represents a step towards bridging the gap between Egyptology and related fields of archaeology, including the archaeological sciences, and that it furthers a spirit of interdisciplinarity, as well as support for Egyptological research in under-represented countries.
