The 32nd meeting of the Mesolithic Workgroup took place in Vienna from 6th to 9th of March 2024. This first Mesolithic conference in Austria provided a welcome opportunity to present the Central European state of research on an international stage. These proceedings, which feature 11 papers covering a range of topics and geographical setting, serve to enhance the sustainability of this important conference: from excavation reports and research histories to studies on material culture from the marshes of Northern Poland to the Alpine highlands of the Alps and to the Adriatic coast. In addition, new data or sites that have not yet been published in English are made available to an international audience. This publication serves as a valuable reference for future collaborations and research on the Mesolithic in Central Europe.

About the Editor

Caroline Posch is staff researcher and curator of the Stone Age collection at the Prehistoric Department at the Natural History Museum Vienna.

Joachim Pechtl is university assistant and head of the Stone Age research section at the Institute of Archaeology at the University of Innsbruck.

Franz Pieler is the head of the Prehistory and Historical Archaeology collection at the Lower Austrian State Collections.
